Yesterday, my mother fractured her arm while trying to get aid. I couldn’t go with her because I’m severely malnourished. She smiled through the pain so we wouldn’t worry, but I could see it all in her eyes — and it broke me.

Before the war, my mother was a kindergarten teacher. Today, she’s forced to push through crowds just to bring us something to eat. I’m not writing this to beg for sympathy — I’m writing because we simply can’t endure this alone anymore.

If you’re able to help, even with a small amount, it could make a real difference. Thank you to everyone who shares or supports us in any way.

His current Chuffed is shared by @/el-shab-hussein. His original but now defunct GFM is vetted and promoted by @/gaza-evacuation-funds and #408 on the verified fundraiser spreadsheet vetted by el-shab-hussein, MohAyesh and nabulsi, but he is now using Chuffed because GFM shut down his fundraiser

Your donations help people facing starvation and frequent bombings every day afford food, water, and other basic needs – it is literally lifesaving!! Please share this fundraiser and donate if you are able to! Every little bit helps!

You can get a postcard after you donate!

reminder that adhd medication isn’t a luxury or preference, but a lifesaving medication. a 10 year long study in the usa showed that, when properly medicated, the rate of car crashes people with adhd get into goes down significantly–men’s rate drops by 38%, and women’s by 42%. the med shortage, denial of meds by doctors, rising prices, and war on drugs has killed–with such a car dependent society, not driving frequently isn’t an option, which means we need better healthcare and need it now.

edit because i forgot to explain: short link is to an article by the washington post, it should be free to read

icy-moons

I’m pretty sure there’s also been a study that unmedicated ADHD increases the risk of developing dementia in old age. I’ll get back to yall when I find the study

icy-moons

Found it and here’s a Washington Post article if you don’t want to read a medical journal.

icarusinfreefall

@icy-moons thank you for this incredibly important addition!!! People with adhd are almost 3 times as likely to get dementia, and the way to prevent that is stimulant medication–more people need to know this

azcrowleyfell

Not to mention being properly treated and medicated for ADHD reduces the likelihood of developing an addiction or substance use disorder.

The articles below are free to access, they cite their sources if you wanna check out the studies themselves.

leebrontide

ADD-certified therapist here. These claims are ALL TRUE. I don’t have the link to hand but properly medicating ADHD also reduces anxiety and depression rates and I’ve seen it improve eating and sleep over the long haul, and improve aggression in young children.

So from what I read, theyre asking a judge to throw out the case on the grounds that: "if everyone we stole from chooses to join the class action against us, it would financially ruin our company and would also be a precedent for people to sue the OTHER ai companies too, and it would financially ruin THEM as well.

Their argument isn't "we didnt steal," or "we broke no laws by using their stuff without permission" ---- their argument is "but if you hold us legally liable for stealing their stuff, itll be super expensive for us :( "

Needless to say, i hope that the class action goes ahead, and i hope it finds the company legally and financially liable for a fucktonne of money, and I hope that every other AI company also gets sued and has to pay damages into bankruptcy.

I fucking hate EVs. Not because I hate the environment, but because I actually care about it.

We saw the problem of car dependency fucking up the environment, and in true capitalist fashion; the auto manufacturers said "why don't we fix this with more cars! ☝️😃"

These new enormous electric cars are almost completely irreparable if they break (and they WILL). The manufacturers don't sell replacement parts for them. The cars themselves are overly complex and the price to fix them is often more than the cost of the car. And the people who buy these things are statistically likely getting a new one via trade-in every ~5 years.

And what happens to the old ones? Scrapped. Nobody wants used EVs for all the reasons above. There's already so many of these fucking things in scrap yards. Nobody wants parts from these things because nobody fixes them because they are not made to be maintained and repaired.

I refuse to believe that I am causing more pollution by maintaining and driving my shitbox manual mustang that is 30+ years old when the average "environmentally conscious" EV owner is going to be partially responsible for literally tons of e-waste within ten years. And in ten years, hopefully I'll just get to brag about having a 40+ year old daily, which is objectively cooler than any brand new vehicle.

What we ACTUALLY need to do to save the environment is to kill car-centric infrastructure, so the majority of people don't literally need to drive in a personal vehicle every single day. We need public transportation and we need places you can walk.

Cars would not be so terrible for the environment if there was just significantly less of them being driven.

First, you are absolutely correct that the ultimate solution is decrease the car-centric society we've created.

That said, regarding your statement on the Mustang, the data pretty clearly say that switching is the way to go. A recent study (sorry it's in German, but you can find summaries online) that was intentionally buried by the Swiss government showed that in almost all cases switching has a net positive to the environment.

But to reiterate your overall position, EV's should be seen as a stop-gap measure while we shift our city infrastructure to more pedestrian and bike friendly. That should be the goal long-term.
